Membership Has Its Privileges

…what a wonderful thing

So, I kept thinking something was wrong with my feed.

Being on Medium for about two and a half years, you get used to certain patterns.

I would get somewhat excited when I would get alerts, and then apprehension would set in, especially when the alert would indicate that a response was left, and my anxiety level would jump a few notches, if the piece I wrote was somewhat controversial. Seriously, the trolls would come out of the woodwork.

(I only wish that the troglodytes were halfway this pleasant)

Anyways, most of them ( the trolls) were just hateful men, rooted in grotesque amounts of misogyny and patriarchy ( remember Pat Riarchy?) and I would go round and round, or MRA peeps masquerading as women, trying to get their digs in, or Russian bots having a field day on my account.

Then it dawned on me…

I became a member.

Then all the troll traffic pretty much disappeared.

Huh…

Who knew that a little green circle would mean so much.
