One Question Too Many

In the beginning we learn to love

Parent to child, child to parent

Child learns to love their stuffed animals, learns to love the real ones too

Cats and dogs, favorite teddy bear

needing them like one needs air

What happens to the child when they don’t know love

When love had escaped them or been denied

No tender touches or soothing words of calm

Do they grow up and ask

Why is there no love for me

Will they search for it in all the wrong places

Asking those around them

Who will answer them

Will they type their query on the nearest surface pro

Will they speak to the microphone icon

Or watch on You tube or Instagram

Maybe AI will save them all

They will learn that love is detached

An illusion to be viewed from afar

Children watch

Children learn

One question too many will be asked

“I’m too busy” they will hear

Make the time to listen and make the time to answer

“ I’m too busy” the children will reply

They will have become like you

And you will have already known why
